Fragrance Formats
What is solid cologne and how does it differ from other fragrances?
We make four distinct fragrance formats, each suited to different preferences and lifestyles:
- Solid Cologne — A wax-based fragrance in a compact tin. Applied directly to the skin with your fingertip. Discreet, portable, and travel-friendly with no liquid spillage risk. Offers a closer, more personal scent that stays near the skin.
- Perfume Oil — A concentrated, alcohol-free fragrance oil. Applied with a roll-on or dropper directly to pulse points. Long-lasting with a rich, skin-warming character and no alcohol dryness.
- Eau de Parfum (EdP) — A classic alcohol-based spray with a higher fragrance concentration than Eau de Toilette. Projects further and is ideal for those who prefer a noticeable, lasting scent trail.
- Body Mist — A lighter, refreshing alcohol-based spray for an all-over application. Perfect for everyday wear or layering over a stronger format.
How do I choose the right format for me?
If you want something portable and subtle, try our Solid Cologne. For rich, long-lasting wear without alcohol, choose a Perfume Oil. If you prefer a classic spray with projection, our Eau de Parfum is the ideal choice. For lighter, everyday freshness, a Body Mist works beautifully — or layer it over an EdP to extend longevity.
Can I layer different formats of the same scent?
Yes. Layering the same scent across formats — for example, a body mist followed by a solid cologne or perfume oil — is a great way to extend longevity and deepen the fragrance experience.
Application & Storage
How do I apply solid cologne?
Use the pad of your fingertip to pick up a small amount of product and apply it to warm pulse points: wrists, neck, behind the ears, or inner elbows. Body heat helps the fragrance bloom. A little goes a long way — start with a small amount and build if desired.
How do I apply perfume oil?
Roll or dab directly onto pulse points. Avoid rubbing the product in, as this can break down the fragrance molecules. Let it sink into the skin naturally.
How do I apply Eau de Parfum and body mist?
Hold the bottle 15–20 cm from your skin and spray onto pulse points or, for body mist, across the body. Do not rub after application. For EdP, 2–3 sprays are usually sufficient.
How should I store my fragrances?
Store all products away from direct sunlight, heat, and humidity. A cool, dry drawer or shelf is ideal. Avoid leaving solid cologne in a hot car, as the wax base can soften. Properly stored, our fragrances will maintain their character for 12–24 months after opening.
Ingredients & Sensitive Skin
Are your products suitable for sensitive skin?
Our products are handmade with care, but fragrance — in any format — can be a sensitiser for some individuals. If you have known fragrance sensitivities, we recommend performing a patch test before full use: apply a small amount to the inner wrist and wait 24 hours before wider application. Are your products vegan or cruelty-free?

Shipping & Delivery
How quickly will my order be dispatched?
Orders placed before 2:00 PM on a working day are dispatched the same day. Orders placed after 2:00 PM are dispatched the next working day.
How much does delivery cost?
Delivery is just £2.70 per parcel, regardless of parcel size — no extra charges for larger orders.
How long will delivery take?
Once dispatched, please allow 2–3 working days for delivery. Delivery times are estimates and may occasionally be affected by postal delays outside our control.
Do you ship internationally?

Returns & Refunds
What is your returns policy?
You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return. To start a return, email us at sales@handmadecosmetics.co.uk with your order details and reason for return. Unauthorised returns cannot be accepted.
What items cannot be returned?
Sale items and gift cards are non-returnable.
My order arrived damaged or incorrect — what should I do?
Inspect your order upon receipt and contact us immediately at sales@handmadecosmetics.co.uk with your order details and a description (or photo) of the issue. We will resolve this as quickly as possible.
How do I exchange an item?
Request a return for the original item via email. Once approved, place a new separate order for the replacement item.
When will I receive my refund?
Once we receive and inspect the returned item, we will notify you of approval or decline. If approved, the refund is issued automatically to your original payment method.
